The International Airports Council of Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) is pleased to announce the incorporation of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA) as a new airport member. Panama, 04 september 2024 – The International Airports Council of Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) is pleased to announce the incorporation of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission (CEPA) as a new airport member. This accession reinforces CEPA's commitment to its institutional management and country vision, contributing significantly to aviation.

CEPA works hard on the modernization of its companies and on the execution of investment projects in ports and airports, with the aim of continuing to provide efficient, safe and uninterrupted services to its users and the general public. The significant investments in airport infrastructure made by the Government of President Nayib Bukele have positioned El Salvador as the most modern and safest airport in the Central American region. In addition, the various strategies implemented in terms of public security and tourism have allowed a notable growth in passenger service.

In 2023, the International Airport of El Salvador, San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez, recorded historic figures, serving more than 4.5 million travelers, which represents an increase of 32% compared to the previous year. So far in 2024, more than 3.4 million passengers have been transported, 24% more than in the same period of the previous year.

Dr. Rafael Echevarne, General Director of ACI-LAC, said: “We are delighted to welcome CEPA to the ACI-LAC family. Its commitment to the modernization and continuous improvement of its airport infrastructure and services is an example for the region. “We look forward to working closely with CEPA to continue promoting airport development in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

For his part, the President of CEPA, Lic. Federico Anliker, highlighted: “Joining ACI-LAC is an important step for us. This membership will allow us to share experiences and good practices with other airports in the region, strengthening our ability to continue offering high quality services to our users and contributing to the economic and tourism development of El Salvador.”

Among CEPA's most notable projects is the construction of the Pacific International Airport in the east of the country, which seeks to encourage economic development, generate a development hub in the region and promote foreign investment.

Currently, at the El Salvador International Airport, work is being done on expanding Check-in, which includes a construction area of ​​7,160 square meters and a total of 122 service points, this will prevent passenger saturation and increase supply. of counters and offices for airlines.

With the accession of CEPA, ACI-LAC continues its mission to strengthen the airport industry in the region, promoting standards of excellence and collaborating in the development of safe and efficient infrastructures.
