Ezeiza: Major Works Plan with an Investment of Over 100 Million Dollars
The works include significant improvements to the runway, taxiways, and terminal. These upgrades will impact operations, safety, passenger experience, airlines, and the cargo terminal.

Buenos Aires, February 25, 2026 – Aeropuertos Argentina will launch an ambitious works plan for Ezeiza International Airport aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and safety, as well as passenger services and cargo terminal capacity in response to sustained growth in activity.

Among the main projects, mostly focused on the airside, is the creation of the new Golf apron, which will allow the operation and parking of 7 narrow-body aircraft with dedicated ramp space, supporting higher levels of activity.

Additionally, the secondary runway (17-35) and its intersection with the main runway (11-29) will be rehabilitated to enhance capacity and operational efficiency, ensuring infrastructure conditions for the airport’s future development.

Due to these works, between October 25 and November 11, operations will be restricted exclusively to runway 11-29, which will be limited to 1,850 meters instead of the current 3,300 meters. This will require airlines to adjust plans for larger aircraft. These conditions will allow the airport to maintain operations according to each airline’s performance and operational criteria while the scheduled works are carried out.

In coordination with the National Airport System Regulatory Agency (Orsna), the lighting ring (runway lighting system for takeoff and landing assistance) will be remodeled, taxiway Alfa repaved, and new ramp maintenance modules created.

In terms of sustainability, a new energy supply system will provide renewable energy to 5 positions, and a new reverse osmosis water treatment plant will be inaugurated to treat 100% of the water used at the airport.

On the landside, the domestic arrivals terminal will be expanded by 1,200 m², adding 5 new boarding gates (bringing the total to 12) and 3,500 m² of pre-boarding area, which will include a new VIP lounge, new dining options, and a children’s play area.

From a technology perspective, the entire airline terminal operations system will be upgraded, including more than 1,700 devices such as check-in computers, gate computers, self check-in kiosks, self bag drop systems, security checkpoints, monitors, boarding printers, passport readers, and baggage tag readers. All are next-generation devices ready to work with biometrics (currently available in migration processes).

Finally, at Aeropuertos Argentina Cargo, the construction of a 12,000 m² Single Courier Terminal (TUC) is planned, along with the expansion of the perishable export area from 4,500 m² to nearly 7,000 m² of temperature-controlled space. A new access route to the Ricchieri Highway will also be developed to improve internal circulation at the terminal.

These works build on progress made in 2025, which included expanding the domestic boarding area with new dining and service options, creating the Calm Room (designed to support the well-being of individuals on the autism spectrum), renovating the Inspection and Registration Point (PIR), opening a new VIPClub premium lounge, a new car rental terminal, and new retail spaces, among other improvements to enhance the passenger experience.

Ezeiza International Airport is Argentina’s main gateway for tourism, with operations totaling 12 million passengers in 2025, a 5.10% increase compared to 2024. The airport hosts 31 airlines connecting to destinations worldwide, with direct flights to 55 international destinations and 35 domestic destinations. Located 23 km from Buenos Aires, it has the infrastructure to handle large aircraft and offers high-quality services designed to meet the needs of all passengers.
