With the growing dynamism of air transport and the demand for advanced technology solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, Miley will lead SITA’s initiatives in the region toward a new stage of growth and innovation.

SITA announced the appointment of George Miley as Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, recognizing his extensive experience in business development, digital transformation, and leadership in technology solutions for the air transport industry. In his new role, George will be responsible for strengthening SITA’s presence in key markets across the region and working closely with governments, airlines, and strategic partners to accelerate the adoption of solutions that drive operational efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.

George Miley has built a solid career within SITA, leading business development efforts and promoting the adoption of technology solutions that improve both operational efficiency and passenger satisfaction. Under his leadership in the Americas, SITA has implemented digital modernization projects ranging from the transformation of check-in processes to the introduction of automated border control systems in major hubs such as Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, with advanced technology that reduces waiting times and strengthens security.

In addition, George has been a prominent voice in promoting digitalization and sustainability in the region, advocating for solutions that meet the expectations of Latin American travelers, who show some of the highest adoption rates of digital experiences worldwide and a strong preference for simpler, more reliable, and sustainable systems.

George brings to this new role more than two decades of professional experience combining expertise in infrastructure, regulation, and aviation technology. Before joining SITA, he held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including serving as the founding president of Costa Rica’s Telecommunications Superintendency (SUTEL), where he led the opening and modernization of the country’s telecommunications market. Since joining SITA in 2012, he has held key executive positions in the Americas, with regional responsibility for airport, telecommunications, and border solutions businesses, driving digital transformation projects in some of the region’s main hubs.

George’s appointment highlights SITA’s strategy to strengthen its global presence with leaders who bring regional expertise, strategic vision, and execution capabilities to address the current and future demands of the sector. Trained in business and management, George holds an MBA from Emory University – Goizueta Business School and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Costa Rica (UCR), combining a strong academic foundation with a practical vision of global markets.
