Lima, 24 September 2026 – Starting this Friday (25), Lima, Peru, will welcome the WAGA 2026 – ACI-LAC / ACI World Annual General Assembly & Exhibition, the leading global gathering of airports organized by Airports Council International (ACI). Jointly organized by ACI World and ACI-LAC and hosted by Lima Airport Partners (LAP), the event is expected to bring together more than 600 participants, including industry executives, government authorities and aviation experts.

Over four days, representatives from airports, governments and international organizations will discuss the key challenges facing the aviation sector, with a focus on connectivity, infrastructure, sustainability and the passenger experience. The conference programme will also address operational safety, integration with tourism and logistics, advanced air mobility, emerging technologies and the energy transition.

Juan José Salmón, President of ACI-LAC and CEO of Lima Airport Partners, highlighted the importance of hosting WAGA 2026:

“Hosting WAGA 2026 represents a unique opportunity to position Lima and Peru at the centre of the conversation about the future of aviation in our region. The sustained growth of the industry challenges us to develop increasingly connected, efficient, sustainable and innovative airports, prepared to respond to the needs of passengers, airlines and communities. This gathering will provide a space to exchange experiences, strengthen strategic partnerships and advance a shared long-term vision that promotes greater connectivity, competitiveness and economic development across Latin America and the Caribbean,” he said.

Confirmed participants include Liz Chirinos Cuadros, Vice Minister of Tourism of Peru; Tiago Faierstein, President of ANAC Brazil; Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World; Juan José Salmón, President of ACI-LAC and CEO of Lima Airport Partners; and Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC.

Air Transport Summit

Following WAGA, on 30 September, Lima will host the Air Transport Summit, convened by ACI-LAC, ICAO, Peru’s DGAC and LACAC. The Summit will bring together authorities and experts from Latin America and the Caribbean to address topics including air transport liberalization, operational safety, passenger facilitation and airport economics.

According to Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC, this year’s conference, organized by ACI World and ACI-LAC, reinforces the role of Latin America and the Caribbean in the global discussion about the future of aviation.

“The gathering in Lima will provide an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between airports in the region and their international counterparts, fostering innovation, sustainability and joint strategies for the growth of the sector. We are confident that the conclusion of the programme with the Air Transport Summit will help us advance regional cooperation on issues such as air transport liberalization, operational safety and airport economics.”

Press Conference

On 28 September at 1:00 p.m. (GMT-5), a press conference will be held to present the latest global and Latin America and Caribbean airport traffic data.

Participating in the press conference will be Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World; Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC; and Juan José Salmón, President of the ACI-LAC Governing Board and CEO of Lima Airport Partners.

The SITA press conference will follow at 1:45 p.m.
