Panama November 08, 2024- Corporación Aeroportuaria de Cuenca (CORPAC) has announced a series of significant advances in the administration of Mariscal La Mar Airport, which consolidate its commitment to the airport development of the region and the wellbeing of its users.
In October, CORPAC received provisional aerodrome certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. This recognition marks a crucial milestone in the airport's evolution as it is the first time the airport has obtained this certification since it was handed over to the municipality more than 15 years ago, allowing Cuenca to position itself as a key point in international air connectivity.
In addition, CORPAC has initiated an ambitious project that will change the city's airport landscape: the new international airport for Cuenca. In this context, a weather station has been installed and put into operation in Victoria del Portete - Tarqui, which represents the first step towards the materialization of this important infrastructure. With the meteorological data collected, airport feasibility studies will soon be contracted to guarantee the progress of this project.
To ensure that the Mariscal La Mar airport continues to offer quality service to users, it has carried out an extensive remodeling of its facilities. Among the improvements made are the remodeling of the main hall, food court, arrivals area, implementation of electric stands, as well as the creation of offices for immigration, anti-narcotics and customs, which allows the internationalization process of the Mariscal La Mar airport to move forward.
The Corporación Aeroportuaria de Cuenca reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of air transportation in the region and continues to work on initiatives that strengthen airport infrastructure, fostering an environment that promotes connectivity and economic growth in Cuenca and its surroundings.
