Throughout the month of May, ACI-LAC conducted a series of institutional visits and strategic meetings in Honduras and Nicaragua, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and supporting the sustainable development of air transport across Latin America and the Caribbean.
In Honduras, the ACI-LAC team met with key stakeholders in the airport sector, including EHISA – Servicio Aeroportuario Nacional, operator of the airports of San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, and Roatán, which play a vital role in the country’s tourism and commercial connectivity. The delegation also visited Palmerola International Airport, a modern facility that continues to establish itself as a strategic hub for regional connectivity.
As part of the visit, ACI-LAC also met with Belkis Escobar, Director General of the Honduran Civil Aviation Agency (AHAC), to discuss opportunities for collaboration aimed at promoting a safer, more efficient, and sustainable air transport system.
Later in the month, ACI-LAC traveled to Managua, Nicaragua, where representatives met with Colonel Walner Molina, Deputy Director of the International Airports Administration Company (EAAI) and Director General of the Nicaraguan Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC).
During the meeting, ACI-LAC learned about the ambitious airport development projects currently underway in the country and explored new opportunities for technical cooperation to strengthen airport infrastructure and enhance the competitiveness of Nicaragua’s air transport sector.
These visits reflect ACI-LAC’s ongoing commitment to working closely with its members, aviation authorities, and strategic partners to foster the growth of the airport industry throughout the region. Through dialogue, knowledge sharing, and technical collaboration, the association continues to support the development of modern, efficient airports that are well-positioned to meet future connectivity and economic development needs.
